Alkaline’s ‘NPT’ Debuts At No. 1 On The US Reggae iTunes Chart Within An Hour Of Its Release

3 weeks ago 8

Alkaline’s third studio album NPT wastes no time making an impact, racing to No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums chart in under an hour of release. The set dethrones Bob Marley & The Wailers’ enduring compilation Legend – The Best of Bob Marley & The Wailers shortly after midnight on Monday, March 23, 2026.

The swift chart takeover arrives just two days after Alkaline packed out Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, setting up a strong momentum heading into the project’s release window. NPT follows 2021’s Top Prize (Autobamb Records), which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and 2016’s New Level Unlocked (DJ Frass Records), marking a decade since his breakout LP.

The 16-track set pulls from a wide production bench, including Sartout Records, Sponge Music, Armzhouse Records, Medz Music, Gegodon Records, Blackspyda Records, Studio Vibes Ent., Sam Conturo, True Loyal Records and in-house work from Autobamb Records—delivering a tightly curated, modern dancehall project.

Visually, the album leans into a gritty, industrial aesthetic. Designed by Shaquille “Sosiquink” Campbell, the cover places Alkaline front and center against a backdrop of rusted textures and tangled wiring, with bold yellow “NPT” typography cutting through the muted tones—minimal, stark and deliberate.

Despite missing the first three days of the tracking week, NPT is already showing early signs of a strong sales-driven run. If momentum holds, the project is poised to secure a debut on next week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart, potentially becoming one of the first entryof 2026.
