19-Year-Old Remanded After Alleged Knife Attack on Older Brother

A nineteen-year-old construction worker has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being accused of attacking his older brother with a knife during a family dispute.  Brenton Conrad Archer appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument. He pleaded not guilty.  Police allege that Archer attacked his twenty-two-year-old brother, Joshua Lamb, during an altercation at a residence on Iguana Street last Friday. Lamb was later found at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with injuries to both sides of his mouth and stab wounds near his left eye and cheek.  The prosecutor did not object to bail. However, the Magistrate deferred consideration of bail because the brothers reportedly live at the same residence or in close proximity to each other. The court asked the prosecution to verify their living arrangements before bail is considered, to ensure Lamb would not be placed at further risk.  Archer told the court that his brother does not live in the same yard. He was remanded until September 2, when the court is expected to revisit the question of bail.
